La Revue, Arthur Jafa, 2020

€90.00

This issue of Cahiers d’Art is curated by Arthur Jafa, winner of the Golden Lion award at the 2019 Venice Biennale. The Revue features excerpts from the notebooks of photomontages that Jafa has been keeping since the 1990s, alongside new works and texts. Jafa also pays tribute to Michael Jackson through the creation of a disquieting cover and through “Aporias and Radiance,” a deeply moving text about Michael Jackson’s voice.
Jafa invited artists Mark Leckey, Dana Hoey, Torkwase Dyson, Frida Orupabo, and Rashaad Newsome to engage in in-depth conversations on their artistic practice, race, and digital culture, among many other topics, accompanied by a selection of each artist’s works.
Included as well are works and texts by photographer Man Ray and Saidiya Hartman, Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, and the short story “Milk of Paradise” by New Wave science fiction author James Tiptree Jr.

The Revue contains some material that many may find unsuitable. Reader discretion is advised.
