La Revue, Hiroshi Sugimoto, N°1 2014, Limited Edition

€12,000.00

This issue is a tribute to renowned artist Hiroshi Sugimoto, marking a historic milestone as the 100th edition since the review’s founding in 1926. It features a rich selection of Sugimoto’s writings, an exclusive interview with Hans Ulrich Obrist, and a captivating series of fossil photographs, some of which were previously exhibited at Cahiers d'Art. Additionally, the issue unveils a never-before-published collection of Sugimoto’s photographs of modernist masterpieces by Picasso, Duchamp, and Brancusi, captured at MoMA, alongside in situ images from his Today, the World Is Dead project at the Palais de Tokyo, displayed until September 7, 2014. A dedicated essay by Jacques Herzog delves into Sugimoto’s profound relationship with architecture.

This limited edition consists of 25 French and 25 English copies, each signed by the artist. The cover, featuring Sugimoto’s Marcel Duchamp, Bicycle Wheel (2014), is presented in an elegant embossed box wrapped in yellow fabric, designed by Sugimoto himself. Each copy is signed beside In Praise of Shadow 980906, a work created specifically for this issue, combining a lithograph and transparent printed paper. Both language versions are accompanied by a unique gelatin silver print from Sugimoto’s Pre-Photography Time-Recording Devices series, personally selected by the artist for this exclusive release.
