La Revue, Ai Weiwei, 2019, Limited Edition

€2,000.00

This Cahiers d'Art Limited Edition, Brain Inflation (2019) by Ai Weiwei, features a striking reproduction of an MRI scan of the artist’s skull, revealing the brain hemorrhage caused by police brutality following his investigation into the victims of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

The edition is accompanied by a deluxe copy of the English Ai Weiwei Revue, housed in a specially designed blue cloth presentation box. This Cahiers d'Art Revue was published in conjunction with Ai Weiwei’s exhibition The Mueller Report / Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen at Cahiers d'Art in Paris. The publication includes a long interview with Hans Ulrich Obrist, discussing the preservation of heritage, nature, and poetry. It also features a series of unpublished rust-based works on paper from 1991, an insightful essay by art historian Ingrid D. Rowland on Ai Weiwei and archaeology, and an article on Chinese antiquities from Cahiers d'Art’s archives.

Additionally, the revue presents a selection of Ai Weiwei’s most beautiful pieces from his extensive collection of ancient jades and textiles, a tribute to his father, the renowned writer Ai Qing (1910–1996), and a text by distinguished collector Uli Sigg. A visual description of A Tree, Ai Weiwei's monumental project in the Amazon rainforest, is also included.

The issue further features a selection of paintings by Swedish artist Andreas Eriksson, a project by Japanese architect Junya Ishigami, and the latest glass works by Iranian artist Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, who passed away in the spring of 2019.
